This week we have been reminding ourselves of the beginning of God’s unique relationship with Israel. Sadly, today much of the world, and even many churches are jealous of Israel and seek to ignore God’s promises and try to reinterpret God’s Word. That theology is called “Replacement” meaning God replaced Israel by the Church. So we need to always remember that God’s choice of Israel was for His purposes and plans. If we condemn or criticize Israel we are rebelling against God.
- God does whatever He pleases
o Psalm 115:3: But our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases.
o Romans 9:12-13, 15: It was said to her (Rebekah), “The older shall serve the younger.” As it is written, “Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated.” For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.”
- God chose Israel to be His witness to the Gentiles
o Isaiah 43:10:“You are My witnesses,” says the Lord, “and My servant whom I have chosen.”
- God took a family and made them a nation
o Ps 105:23-24: Israel also came into Egypt, and Jacob dwelt in the land of Ham. He increased His people greatly.
- God gave Israel a land which was already inhabited
o Deuteronomy 20:16-18: “But of the cities of these peoples which the Lord your God gives you asan inheritance, you shall let nothing that breathes remain alive, but you shall utterly destroy them: the Hittite and the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite, just as the Lord your God has commanded you, lest they teach you to do according to all their abominations which they have done for their gods, and you sin against the Lord your God.
- God commanded Israel to prepare the land for the coming of the King
o 2 Chronicles 6:6: “I have chosen Jerusalem, that My name may be there.”
Renounce the lie:
The following have no share in the world to come, but are cut off, and perish, and receive their punishment for all time for their great sin:
- he who says, as do the Nazarenes and the Mohammedans, that the Lord has given a new dispensation instead of the old, and that he has abolished the Law, though it was originally divine.
Replace with God’s truth:
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
