February 9: Jerusalem; God’s unique relationship with Israel

God was faithful to Israel, bringing them into the land promised to their fathers.  He had said He delivered them so they would worship Him.  Now Solomon had built their Temple.  It was glorious and the fulfillment of Israel’s hopes and dreams.

1 Kings 6:1

Solomon began to build the Temple four hundred eighty years after the people of Israel had left Egypt. This was during the fourth year of King Solomon’s rule over Israel. It was the second month, the month of Ziv.

1 Kings 11-14

The Lord said to Solomon: “If you obey all my laws and commands, I will do for you what I promised your father David. I will live among the Israelites in this Temple, and I will never leave my people Israel.”

So Solomon finished building the Temple.

PRAY FOR ISRAEL TO RETURN TO GOD WITH ALL THEIR HEART AND WORSHIP HIM IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH.
