April 17: Passover

– The Cup of Salvation

Jesus knew this would be His last Passover celebration with His disciples.  He knew that within hours He would be crucified at the same time as the priests would be sacrificing the other lambs.  He had so much to tell His friends.

Like they had done all their lives, they sang Psalms 113-118.  The cup after dinner is called The Cup of Redemption, and they read:

Psalm 116:12-13

What shall I render to the Lord
 for all His benefits toward me?

I will take up the cup of salvation, 
and call upon the name of the Lord.

In Hebrew there is only one cup but many salvations. Over this cup Jesus said:

Luke 22:20

Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.

Jesus was about to sacrifice His life so that all who believe in Him have the privilege to become children of God and be saved continuously from their sin, suffering and sickness.

 

PRAY ALL PEOPLE WILL TAKE AND DRINK FROM JESUS’S CUP OF REDEMPTION AND SALVATION.

Four cups of wine are taken at the Passover celebration (seder) in remembrance of the four promises. The cups are called, “The Cup of Sanctification”, “The Cup of Deliverance,” “The Cup of Redemption (or Salvation).” and “The Cup of the Kingdom. ” Yeshua didn’t drink the last cup…
