– The Cup of Salvation
Jesus knew this would be His last Passover celebration with His disciples. He knew that within hours He would be crucified at the same time as the priests would be sacrificing the other lambs. He had so much to tell His friends.
Like they had done all their lives, they sang Psalms 113-118. The cup after dinner is called The Cup of Redemption, and they read:
What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits toward me?
I will take up the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord.
In Hebrew there is only one cup but many salvations. Over this cup Jesus said:
Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.
Jesus was about to sacrifice His life so that all who believe in Him have the privilege to become children of God and be saved continuously from their sin, suffering and sickness.
PRAY ALL PEOPLE WILL TAKE AND DRINK FROM JESUS’S CUP OF REDEMPTION AND SALVATION.
