When the Day of Atonement ends at sundown, many are uncertain if God forgave their sin. One rabbi said, “We can’t be sure we hope so; we just act as though He has. God is merciful.”
Atonement is accomplished when the wronged party is appeased (satisfied) by the offering of the offending party. The offering is called “propitiation.”
God said that there was only one way there could be atonement:
For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.’
But the blood of animals could only provide temporary appeasement.
For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.
The ultimate and final offering was the perfect blood of God Himself, Yeshua.
1 John 4:10
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
PRAY FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM AND THAT ISRAEL WOULD EXPERIENCE THE JOY OF GOD’S FORGIVENESS.
