September 17: The Fall Feasts

– Making Restitution

Numbers 5:5-7

Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the children of Israel: ‘When a man or woman commits any sin that men commit in unfaithfulness against the Lord, and that person is guilty, then he shall confess the sin which he has committed. He shall make restitution for his trespass in full, plus one-fifth of it, and give it to the one he has wronged.

Restitution (the returning of what is owed) was always part of the repentance process.  But how do we recompense (pay back) God for sin against Him?

Micah 6:6-7

With what shall I come before the Lord,
and bow myself before the High God?
Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings,
with calves a year old?

Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams,
ten thousand rivers of oil?
Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression,
the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

Because mankind has nothing good enough to repay Him, God lovingly gave His Son for our transgression.

PRAY FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM AND FOR ISRAEL TO ACCEPT GOD’S RESTITUTION.
