Last week we began to pray through Isaiah’s vision of God’s judgement on the world. Our prayers focused on God’s concern for His Church to proclaim a warning to the nations.
This week we’ll pray with more precision.
Isaiah 24: 1-3
Behold, the Lord makes the earth empty and makes it waste,
Distorts its surface
And scatters abroad its inhabitants.
And it shall be:
As with the people, so with the priest;
As with the servant, so with his master;
As with the maid, so with her mistress;
As with the buyer, so with the seller;
As with the lender, so with the borrower;
As with the creditor, so with the debtor.
The land shall be entirely emptied and utterly plundered,
For the Lord has spoken this word.
Once before the Lord had to scatter the people who tried to replace God.
But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. And the Lord said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one anothers speech.” So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city.
Then He changed their language to keep them separate. This time He brings complete destruction and distortion to the earth itself. God is the ultimate holy and just judge.
PRAY FOR ISRAEL TO SEEK THE LORD GOD AND NOT TRY TO “FIX THE SITUATION.”
