October 14: Redemption & Salvation

God disciplines Israel differently than He does the other nations.

Isaiah 27:7

Has He struck Israel as He struck those who struck him?
Or has He been slain according to the slaughter of those who were slain by Him?

God considers the Diaspora (the dispersion of the Jewish people among the nations) the hardest and most painful discipline.  God’s plan is a relationship among Himself, the people and the land.

Isaiah 27:8

In measure, by sending it away,
You contended with it.
He removes it by His rough wind
in the day of the east wind.

But the dispersion is for a reason – that the people would seek Him either among the nations or upon their return.

Isaiah 27:9

Therefore by this the iniquity of Jacob will be covered;
and this is all the fruit of taking away his sin:
when he makes all the stones of the altar
 like chalkstones that are beaten to dust,
wooden images and incense altars shall not stand.

The “fruit” of redemption and salvation is the destruction of our former way of life.

PRAY FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM AND FOR THE REDEMPTION AND SALVATION OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE.
