November 9: God’s unique relationship with the Jewish people

God’s “choice” of Israel brought many responsibilities as well as privileges. The Jewish people were to be separate from all other nations and peoples so that God could reveal Himself to them and through them to all the other nations and peoples. God gave them instructions for every part of their lives, including how to mourn for the dead.

Deuteronomy 14:1-2

“You are the children of the Lord your God; you shall not cut yourselves nor shave the front of your head for the dead.  For you are a holy people to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

Today, this call for “separateness” is a challenge to many Jewish followers of Yeshua in light of the “one new man.”

PRAY FOR THE JEWISH FOLLOWERS OF YESHUA TO KNOW AND TO UNDERSTAND GOD’S UNIQUE CALLING IN AND ON THEIR LIVES.
