-Israel: Spiritual or Political?
Israel is often referred to in negative ways. For example, people refer to “the issue” or “the problem” of Israel, thus blaming Israel for whatever is wrong with the world!
So who or what is Israel?
We’ve seen that Israel is different from all other nations, as the people are unique. The word Israel is used in several different ways, all of which are correct and relevant:
- An ethnic people with a unique relationship to God
- A political nation
- The land promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob
- A people of a specific faith
Remember, God is sovereign and He can (and does) make choices. So if the uniqueness of Israel is based on God’s choice, then Israel is based in the spirit and not in politics. In other words, any “issue” or “problem” with Israel is spiritual and not political. The confusion is caused because the spiritual issues are manifested in the political realm.
But there are no political solutions for a spiritual problem. Only prayer and Messiah Yeshua can solve spiritual issues.
God’s plan was that Gentiles who loved Him would rejoice in God’s choice of Israel as His witness and rejoice in His fulfillment of Israel’s destiny – the salvation of His people and His land.
“Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people;
For He will avenge the blood of His servants,
And render vengeance to His adversaries;
He will provide atonement for His land and His people.”
PRAY FOR THE DAY WHEN THE GENTILE CHURCH WILL REJOICE IN GOD’S FAITHFULNESS TO ISRAEL.
Next week we will discover how and why the separation began within “the Church” and Israel.
