You Have a Choice
God’s covenant with Abraham, confirmed to Isaac and Jacob, and then to David, included the promise of a specific land. God chose Israel, the land and the nation for His purposes even unto eternity.
While the covenant was unconditional, the people had privileges and responsibilities necessary for them to inhabit the land with His blessings.
Their journey through the desert revealed their stubborn hearts so God waited for the next generation plus Joshua and Caleb to enter the land.
Now Israel was ready to enter the Land. Were they ready?
Joshua challenged them, “Were they committed and ready to take the next step?”
[“Thus says the Lord God of Israel:]
‘I have given you a land for which you did not labor, and cities which you did not build, and you dwell in them; you eat of the vineyards and olive groves which you did not plant.’
“Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord! And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell.
“But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
God gives each of us that same choice, the choice between life and death. Once the Tribulation begins, it will become harder and harder to choose life. For that reason, it’s crucial to keep in mind God’s faithfulness in the past and His promises for the future so the choice for life will be easy.
PRAY ALL ISRAEL TO CHOOSE GOD.
