-Israel and the Nations
In the plan of God, there is a distinction between the nation of Israel and all the other nations. Israel was to be set apart, different from the nations, because of her unique relationship with God. To this day God still makes that distinction.
“For what great nation is there that has God so near to it, as the Lord our God is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him? And what great nation is there that has such statutes and righteous judgments as are in all this law which I set before you this day? (NKJV)
For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my countrymen according to the flesh, who are Israelites, to whom pertain the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service of God, and the promises; of whom are the fathers and from whom, according to the flesh, Christ came, who is over all, the eternally blessed God. Amen. (NKJV)
There is no other nation to which God makes this promise:
The eternal God is your refuge,
And underneath are the everlasting arms;
He will thrust out the enemy from before you,
And will say, ‘Destroy!’
Then Israel shall dwell in safety,
The fountain of Jacob alone,
In a land of grain and new wine;
His heavens shall also drop dew.
God is the Judge of both individuals and of nations. As we saw in the Exodus story, God judged the entire nation of Egypt because of the decisions of Pharaoh. We still see today that when a leader of a nation turns his back on Israel, often the entire nation is punished. God’s word never fails.
PRAY FOR THE LEADERS OF YOUR CHURCH AND YOUR NATION TO RECOGNIZE GOD’S UNIQUE RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL.
