God’s promise to the exiles must have brought them great hope.
Today, many people misunderstand the symbiotic relationship of the people, the land and God. The simple truth of Scripture is that God created the nation of Israel and He assigned them to the land of Israel. While all are welcome and encouraged to come to Jerusalem to worship Him there, the land has been given to Israel as an everlasting possession to steward it for the King. To those who understand the privilege and responsibility, being in exile is heartbreaking.
God began to fulfill this promise in 538 and is still fulfilling it today.
Ezekiel 11:17: Thus says the Lord God: “I will gather you from the peoples, assemble you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.”
