Return of the Sacrifices
The next words of the angel must have startled Daniel because the angel talked about the “daily sacrifices.” At the time, Daniel was in exile along with many other Jews, and the Temple in Jerusalem had not been restored.
The Temple restoration began in 586 BC, (about 48 years after Daniel died) and was completely destroyed in 70 AD.
Thus the reference to “daily sacrifices” indicates that there will be a third Temple built, sacrifices reinstated but then stopped. [We will track these events in our journey!]
11 “And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12 Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days.
13 “But you, go your way till the end; for you shall rest, and will arise to your inheritance at the end of the days.
PRAY FOR GOD’S DISCERNMENT OF THESE TIMES.
