June 26: Jacob’s Trouble – God’s unique relationship with Israel

Jacob’s Trouble

There has not been a time in history when the Jewish people have not suffered.  Sadly, their suffering was often at the hands of people who believed in Jesus, the Bible and the God of Israel. Such times of suffering were often the result of lies and distortion of Scripture.  Here is a limited list:

  • Inquisition,
  • Crusades,
  • Exile,
  • Pogroms,
  • Persecution, destruction, death,
  • The Holocaust.

Despite these, horrors, the Bible says that a worse time is to come.  It will be a time of “Jacob’s Trouble.”

Jeremiah 30:5-7

“For thus says the Lord:

‘We have heard a voice of trembling,
Of fear, and not of peace.
Ask now, and see,
Whether a man is ever in labor with child?
So why do I see every man with his hands on his loins
Like a woman in labor,
And all faces turned pale?
Alas! For that day is great,
So that none is like it;
And it is the time of Jacob’s trouble,
But he shall be saved out of it.’”

Even in the midst of the warning, God makes a promise to save His people.

PRAY THE JEWISH PEOPLE WILL LOOK TO GOD IN FAITH FOR SALVATION.
