Recently an article entitled, “Who wants Moshiach” was in the Jerusalem Post. The writer opined that “He is mentioned thousands of times each day, all over the world, yet no one actually knows his name or very much about him.”
However, even a cursory reading of the Bible negates Mr. Steward Weiss. If taken literally (the best way of reading any historical book) the Bible clarifies all the confusion and mystery. Who, when, what, and how are all found in the Tenach (the Jewish Bible aka Old Testament).
Genesis 49:10 (His family line): “The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes; and to Him shall be the obedience of the people.”
Isaiah 53:2 (His appearance): For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; and when we see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him.
Micah 5:2 (His birthplace): “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be Ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.”
