Today’s restoration of the land of Israel is proof of God’s character.
In this Scripture there are three characteristics of God: His wrath, His favor and His mercy.
We cannot choose which part of God we want, He is Who He is.
In this verse the word translated, as “favor” is the Hebrew word: רצון [rä·tsōn’], which means, “ pleasure, goodwill, acceptance.” It is also used in Psalms 5:12 and 19:14.
The word translated as “mercy” is רחם[rä·kham’], which means a deep love and is often translated as “merciful.” The word “womb” also comes from the same root. Thus this word can describe that overwhelming love a parent for his new-born.
So when you pray for and look at the modern state of Israel you are seeing God’s favor and mercy to His people and His land.
Isaiah 60: 10-14:
“The sons of foreigners shall build up your walls,
And their kings shall minister to you;
For in My wrath I struck you,
But in My favor I have had mercy on you.
Therefore your gates shall be open continually;
They shall not be shut day or night,
That men may bring to you the wealth of the Gentiles,
And their kings in procession.
For the nation and kingdom which will not serve you shall perish,
And those nations shall be utterly ruined.
“The glory of Lebanon shall come to you,
The cypress, the pine, and the box tree together,
To beautify the place of My sanctuary;
And I will make the place of My feet glorious.
Also the sons of those who afflicted you
Shall come bowing to you,
And all those who despised you shall fall prostrate at the soles of your feet;
And they shall call you The City of the Lord,
Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
