God vs Satan
The epic battle between good and evil started in eternity past, when “Lucifer,” a created being tried to do the impossible – usurp God’s authority.
It’s hard to imagine: God, the Great I Am, un-created, self existent, eternal, without beginning or end, all powerful, all knowing, all present, who spoke Creation into existence: the lights in the heavens, the birds of the air, the fish of the sea, every creeping thing and mankind and the angelic host…God, holy, just, merciful, gracious, faithful and beyond description being challenged by Lucifer, a lowly angel!
[For] you have said in your heart:
‘I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God;
I will also sit on the mount of the congregation
On the farthest sides of the north;
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,
I will be like the Most High.’
God could have silenced Lucifer (aka Satan, the Devil, the Serpent) with a thought, but allowed him access to mankind. Lucifer was given power on the earth to tempt and test to reveal man’s heart; but only up to a point.
So the battle between God and Satan has raged for thousands of centuries, not because Satan and God are equal adversaries, but because of God’s grace, mercy and love for His creation. Despite mankind’s sin, “precious in God’s sight is the death of His saints” (Ps. 116:15).
But there will come a day when God’s patience will end. First He will bind Satan for 1,000 while He sets up His Messianic Kingdom.
Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.
But then when the thousand years have expired, Satan tries one last time…but
Revelation 20:7-9 (abbreviated)
Fire came down from God out of heaven…. The devil…was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone …and will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
2 Peter 3:9
[God is] long-suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish
but that all should come to repentance.
PRAY AND THEN PROCLAIM GOD’S MERCY AND GRACE BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE.
