January 8: Christian Anti-Semitism: Supersessionism

Supersessionism

The theology of Supersessionism is often used synonymously with Replacement Theology. But actually there is a difference.

Replacement Theology believes that the Church has replaced Israel.

Supersessionism believes that the Church is the fulfillment of God’s plans for Israel.

Justin Martyr, considered the greatest apologist who fought against paganism, was the first to call the Church “the New Israel.”  He said, “Christ is the Israel and the Jacob, even so we, who have been quarried out from the bowels of Christ, are the true Israelitic race.”[1]

Renounce the lie

The Church has replaced and fulfilled Israel in the plans and purposes of God.

Replace with the truth

I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from doing them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts so that they will not depart from me.   (Jeremiah 32:40 NKJV)
