January 27: Righteousness

Yeshua offered a righteousness that came from God, a righteousness that could not be accomplished through the Law of Moses. As so often happens (even today) the Jewish people did not know the words of their own prophet.

Habakkuk prophesied that there would come a new method of attaining righteousness

Habakkuk 2:3-4

For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.

What is the righteousness available to all who would believe? Earlier in his letter Paul declared that there was only one source of this righteousness that brings life…Yeshua

 Romans 1:16-17

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, the just shall live by faith.

God would impart (give) His righteousness equally to Jews and Gentiles but only through faith in Yeshua.
