January 26: Righteousness

The problem in Paul’s day (and continuing today) was that the people didn’t know what they didn’t know.

Israel refused the revelation of Yeshua and was thus ignorant of God’s righteousness which He offered.

Romans 10:3

For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.

Many were sincere, but they were sincerely wrong. Sincere belief in the wrong object will bring disaster.

Job’s friends had a false understanding of God’s grace and mercy. They criticized Job for depending on his works for acceptance before God. But in the end, God criticized the friends for judging Job based on their concept of righteousness and not on God’s character of grace and mercy.

Job 4:6-7

Is not your reverence your confidence?

And the integrity of your ways your hope?

“Remember now, who ever perished being innocent?

Or where were the upright ever cut off?

Job 4:17-19

‘Can a mortal be more righteous than God?

Can a man be more pure than his Maker?

If He puts no trust in His servants,

If He charges His angels with error,

How much more those who dwell in houses of clay,

Whose foundation is in the dust,

Who are crushed before a moth?

The result of spiritual blindness caused by rebellion, religion or even tradition, is a downward spiral.

PRAY FOR ISRAEL TO HAVE A REVELATION OF THEIR MESSIAH
