These next verses have caused some great misunderstandings. First is the suggestion that because Israel remains in rebellion against God, that God’s plans and purposes for Israel have been thwarted. Paul had already answered that in Romans 8:28-38.
But this answer brings another misunderstanding.
But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For they are not all Israel who are of Israel,
From this verse, some Gentile followers of Yeshua believe that they (the Gentiles) have become the “real” Israel. It is this misunderstanding that is the foundation for what is called “Replacement Theology.”
What Paul is saying here is that not all of Israel would obey God, that only the remnant would enjoy God’s promised blessing. The true Israel would be those Jews who would love, trust and follow Him through faith in His Son, the Messiah of Israel. They would be the true sons of Abraham.
Today more and more Jewish people are repenting of their sins and embracing Yeshua as their Lord and Savior.
PRAY FOR ALL CHRISTIANS TO HAVE THE REVELATION OF GOD’S UNIQUE RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL.
