April 7: Passover

– I Will Rescue You

Exodus 6:6b

“I will rescue you from their bondage.”

People in slavery or bondage of any kind are most concerned with one thing – freedom! They cry, “Get me out of here!”

The Hebrew word used here is: נצל [ntsal]The word pictures a violent ripping away.  Imagine two pieces of Velcro being ripped apart.  The pronunciation of the word almost sounds like that.

Other definitions include: snatch away, deliver, rescue, save, strip and, plunder.  Isn’t that what God did for Israel?

God not only snatched Israel from the bondage of Egypt, He snatched Egypt’s material wealth as well! Israel entered Egypt as a poor family but left as a rich nation. After years of slavery, Israel left Egypt laden with precious metals of gold, silver, brass, and copper as well as luxurious fabrics of purple, scarlet, and white linen. Using their new wealth, Israel built God’s tabernacle in the desert.

In the Hebrew translation of the New Testament the same word is used to describe what God has done rescuing all who will believe from the bondage/slavery of sin!

Colossians 1:13-14

He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

PRAY GOD WILL ONCE AGAIN RESCUE ISRAEL FROM THE BONDAGE OF SIN.

God’s love provides the way of forgiveness to
those, who in faith, repent of their sins.
