– Israel or Palestine?
Today there is much confusion about “the State of Palestine.” There is no, and has never been, a land, a people, a nation or a culture called “Palestine.” The term was never used in Scripture yet it shows up on Biblical maps!
So what’s the truth?
When Rome destroyed Jerusalem in 135 AD, Jerusalem and Judea were renamed Palaestina (Palestine) in an attempt to insult God minimize Jewish identification with the land of Israel. (Psalm 83:3-4)
After WWl the name Palestine was applied to the territory that was placed under British Mandate; this area included not only present-day Israel but also present-day Jordan.
Therefore, it was actually the Jews who were referred to as Palestinian. Arabs did not accept being called “Palestinians” because they did not want to be associated with Jews or with the British Mandate for Palestine
Before 1967 not a single Arab thought of himself as a “Palestinian.” To call an Arab a “Palestinian” would mean to insult him. “We are not Jews, we are Arabs.”
The world knew – Palestine is just another name for Israel (or Judaea).
Renounce the lie
“We say that the nation of Palestine upon the land of Canaan had a 7,000-year history. This is the truth that must be said: Netanyahu, you are incidental in history. We are the people of history. We are the owners of history.” (Mahmoud Abbas)
Replace with truth
After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying: “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. (NKJV)
