August 4: God’s unique relationship with Israel

The life message of the Hebrew prophets reflected many aspects of God’s character.  For the next few weeks we will listen to Jeremiah and Isaiah to pray God’s messages to Judah.

First we hear God’s broken heart for the sins of Israel, the nation He’s chosen to carry His name to the nations. Then we hear His holiness and justice that demands discipline and punishment for those sins.

Finally, we hear His plea that the Jewish people remember their unique relationship and His plea they repent and return to Him.

Jeremiah 2:1-3

Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

“Go and cry in the hearing of Jerusalem, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord:

 “I remember you,
The kindness of your youth,
The love of your betrothal,
When you went after Me in the wilderness,
In a land not sown.
Israel was holiness to the Lord,
The firstfruits of His increase.
All that devour him will offend;
Disaster will come upon them,” says the Lord.’”

PRAY GOD WILL OPEN THE EARS OF ISRAEL TO HEAR THE VOICE OF THE PROPHETS, WHOSE MESSAGE IS STILL TRUE TODAY!
