August 30: God’s Unique Relationship with Israel

The Suffering Servant

God’s unique relationship with Israel does not lessen His love for the Gentiles who have been redeemed by grace through faith in Yeshua.  Rather than feeling rejected or inferior, the Gentiles should rejoice in the mercy of God who made them partakers in the Spiritual blessings of Israel.  Furthermore, God has given the Gentiles specific privileges and responsibilities in His kingdom.

Isaiah 45:1-4

“Thus says the Lord to His anointed,
To Cyrus, whose right hand I have held—
To subdue nations before him
And loose the armor of kings,
To open before him the double doors,
So that the gates will not be shut:
‘I will go before you
And make the crooked places straight;
I will break in pieces the gates of bronze
And cut the bars of iron.
I will give you the treasures of darkness
And hidden riches of secret places,
That you may know that I, the Lord,
Who call you by your name,
Am the God of Israel.
For Jacob My servant’s sake,
And Israel My elect,
I have even called you by your name;
I have named you, though you have not known Me.

PRAY FOR YOUR CHURCH TO TEACH SCRIPTURE WITHIN ITS HISTORICAL CONTEXT, RECOGNIZING GOD’S UNIQUE RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL.

Raoul Wallenburg was a Swedish architect, businessman, diplomat and humanitarian. He is widely celebrated for saving tens of thousands of Jews in Nazi-occupied Hungary during the Holocaust from German Nazis and Hungarian Fascists during the later stages of World War II. While serving as Sweden’s special envoy in Budapest between July and December 1944, Wallenberg issued protective passports and sheltered Jews in buildings designated as Swedish territory.
