August 24: Israel’s Redemption & Salvation

Ever wonder how the kosher laws began?  Much more than combining milk and meat (because Abraham served his guests both…at the same time), there is a specific way to kill animals based on this verse.

Besides being a more humane treatment, kosher law requires a complete draining of the blood even though the context of this verse relates to the murder of humans!

But there’s much more to this verse.

The sacrifice of a living being reflected the horror and the penalty of sin. Even today there is no atonement without the shedding of blood.

PRAY THAT ISRAEL WILL RECOGNIZE THE HORROR OF THEIR SIN AND GOD’S PROVISION FOR THEIR ATONEMENT.

Leviticus 17:11

For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.
