August 21: End Times, Preface

“These Things:”

False Evangelists

Everyone, regardless who we are, has a message that he wants to share with others.  That makes us all “evangelists” or messengers, bringing what we consider to be good and important news.

God gives certain people an extra anointing to spread His message with a power that produces results.  Unfortunately, a charismatic personality can be confused with God’s anointing and can bring harmful results.

A good description of an evangelist is one who:

“…proclaims God’s Word, simply and clearly. His message focuses on Messiah Yeshua and what He has done for us all. Evangelists do not just tell people about the Bible but communicates God’s message of salvation which can only come by His grace through faith in the atonement of Yeshua.” [Billy Graham]

The true evangelist will use the Bible as the foundation and context of his message but the false evangelist will bring attention to unnecessary issues. Again, the wrong message can be a matter of life and death.

Like the Hebrew prophet Jeremiah, God’s message burned within Paul.  And because of his love for his own people, the Jews; he couldn’t keep silent!

Romans 1:15-17

So, as much as is in me, I am eager and ready to preach the gospel [God’s good news] to you who are in Rome also.

For I am not ashamed of the [message] of Yeshua, for it is the power of God to [bring] salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.” (Habakkuk 2:4)   Amplified Bible (AMP)

Paul was determined that people would be moved only by God’s spirit working through him.

      1 Corinthians 2:1-5

And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God.  For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.  I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling.  And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
