April 25: God’s unique relationship with Israel

Israel, as a nation is no different than we are as individuals.  We expect God to always do what we want Him to do, or what He has done in the past.  Graham Cooke, a British teacher once said, “God is consistently inconsistent!”

The truth is that God will do whatever He has to do to fulfill His purposes. But we can be certain of this:  God’s character is always consistent.  Whatever He does is always for His glory and our good.

Psalm 44:1-3

We have heard with our ears, O God,
Our fathers have told us,
The deeds You did in their days,
In days of old:
You drove out the nations with Your hand,
But them You planted;
You afflicted the peoples, and cast them out.
For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword,
Nor did their own arm save them;
But it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance,
Because You favored them.

PRAY FOR ISRAEL TO TRUST IN GOD’S CHARACTER EVEN WHEN CONFUSED BY HIS ACTIONS.
