April 15:Passover

– The Bitter Herbs

God commanded that as we eat the Passover Lamb, we also eat bitter herbs to remind us of the bitterness of our slavery.  Later in the Passover service, we make a sandwich of the bitter herbs and a sweet apple/nut mixture to remind us of the sweetness of our deliverance.

Exodus 12:8

Then they shall eat the flesh on that night; roasted in fire, with unleavened bread and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.

Yeshua used this ritual of dipping bread into the bitter herbs to identify Judas as His betrayer. (John 13:18-30)
